Clayton Gets Baptized

June 5, 2010 ---- Clayton Cole Isaacson became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was blessed to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost to be with him. It was a very special day for our families. We had been just a bit concerned that perhaps Clayton was nervous about the baptism and just might "bolt" on us. But he did not and did just fine. His father Jeff had to fly in from Minnesota where he is working so he could perform the ordinances. He did a wonderful job and gave Clayton a very special father's blessing. I know that Clayton does not remember all of it but once in a while we all must try to remind him of some of those special blessings and advice. To stay close to Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ, follow the good example of his older brothers, pray, be kind, prepare to serve a mission, seek a companion that will go to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity, honor his father and mother and so many more beautiful blessings. His Aunt Tonya was asked to give a talk about Baptism. As usual she went the extra mile and the talk was wonderful. I will always think about the fact that when we all came from heaven we were like a bright shiny new penny with no blemishes. As we grow sometimes we make wrong choices and can get tarnished just like a penny. But because of our Savior's atoning sacrifice we have a way to become shiny and bright again. The waters of Baptism is the first step to becoming clean ---- if after we are baptized and we sometimes still make wrong choices we have the chance to repent and become clean again. How grateful I am for my Savior and His great love for each of us.
Grandpa Brad Frank and Grandpa Burt Isaacson's stood as witnesses at the baptism and the Melchizedek Priesthood holders standing in the circle for his confirmation as a member of the church and his receiving the holy ghost were ---- His father Jeff, Grandpa Burt, Grandpa Brad, Uncle Todd Johnson, Uncle Mike Isaacson, Uncle Jim Barney, Uncle Paul Wood, Cousin Garen Brewer, Uncle Danny Despain, Uncle Sid Soria, Uncle DelRay Woodruff, Uncle Dan Nesbit, Cousin Brandon Shearer and Brother Garcia of his ward bishopric.

A fun family picnic to celebrate this special day was held at the Isaacson home in Syracuse. It is always so nice and fun to meet together as family and it is especially nice that the family has so many great cooks. The food was so good and the weather was actually warm. (First time this year for a family party)
