Twenty Seven

Today marks twenty seven years of marriage for Brad and I. It is good. Today not so exciting with town work to do. I guess that we have forgotten how to celebrate. I need to really work on this.

DelRay and Nate are Home

The hunters got home today. However, they came empty handed. Maybe next time.  The next time was a success for the hunters.  The two antelope were taken by father and son.

The Stalker is BACK

Skylar, Nichole and I had a crazy funny time. His stalker now has a blog. And S as she calls him was the subject of one very long crazy posts, filled with her fantasies and no truth. We really do not know what to think of her. It is so sad and yet makes you mad to read the lies. Hope someone soon helps her.

Twenty Five Years for the Johnsons

Todd and Mary have hit the twenty five year mark. Congrats to them. They will be heading to Lake Tahoe for a fun celebration. This special couple have done many great things during their time together. Three beautiful children, a warmm and lovely home, and a lot of animals. Together they have faced some very hard challenges and heart breaking times but faith will continue to help them carry on. They are very special.

While Dad's Away the Woodruff Girls Play

While DelRay and Nate were hunting Tonya and MacKenzie worked in her room.  The painting is now done and Tonya is working on putting in the base boards and the door frames.  She is really amazing to just go forward and to it.  Real good with a saw and nail gun.  The room is looking just like a happy fun pre-teen young lady.  They also tied a darling and extra fluffy and warm quilt for her bed.  Those winter nights will not even bother her.  More pictures to come I hope.

Jeff Firth arrives home

Jeff arrived home Friday night and is now trying to get caught up with rest. Traveling can really throw you off.

Tristen and Hunter

Tristen and Hunter went on an overnight campout with the young men in their Stake. The report from the boys is that ------- for Tristen it was fun and good -----for Hunter it was not fun nor good.
For Clayton the night was fantastic because he got mom all to himself and loved beating her at UNO. Dad just got to work alot.

No Temple Today

Tonight was the Women,s Conference so our shift at the temple did not need to go. Brad and I spent a great day visiting and helping some family.

The Brewers Make a Move

The Brewer family has been living in a very unhealthy apartment.  (Mold)  They were able to get released from their contract because of this and have made a move to a much healthier environment.  We are very happy for them.  It is located across from the south parking lot of the Logan Hospital.  When we stopped by today to make some deliveries and see how they were doing Meagan was busy making it feel like a warm home.  She is very talented at creating a lovely space for her family.  Tyler was also enjoying the new steps in his home.  I counted fourteen ----- but he will have to be carefully watched for a while until he understands stairs.  I think a baby gate will be the next purchase.  Paul and Garen had been busy getting most everything moved and Brad was able to help with a load.

Jacob Makes a Goal

Today Brad and I traveled to Stansbury Park to watch Jacob play a soccer game.  It was a nice drive and the weather was so nice.  Usually we are freezing when watching soccer but, today his game was at noon and the weather was just perfect for me.  However, the children were pretty red faced and hot from the noon day sun.  Jacob played very well.  It has been fun to see him progress over the past years.  He worked hard and was so happy when he scored a goal for his team.  This seemed to give them a little push and they went on to win.  Grandpa Brad said it sure made him tired just watching the children run up and down that field at full speed.  Youth sure helps with movement.

The Great Salt Lake on our drive home.  Beautiful day to sail.

Stopping at the Sorias

With no temple tonight Brad and I were able to spend the day visiting with some of our family.  Our first stop was at the Soria home in Farmington.  It feels so wonderful when they answer the door and little arms reach for you with hugs.  Heather and Sam are growing up so fast.  They had so much fun teasing with Grandpa Brad.  Sam's little belly laugh makes everyone smile and laugh.  Heather wanted to know when I was going to give her piano lessons.  She really wanted to play "I Am A Child of God".  Oh, for the innocence of little ones.  If everything could just be as easy as they see it in their eyes.  I showed her how to find Middle C on her piano and that if she starts with the very bottom white key on her piano and says A B C D E F G and then starts over with A B  C D E F G she will be able to say all the names of the white keys.  She had fun doing this.  Then I played and she sang some of the songs for her Primary Program the next day.  She has a very sweet voice with very good pitch.  She then told me her part for Sunday ---- It was about Jesus Christ creating the earth for us.

The men were at the Soria home working on the new deck and pergola.  It will be such a lovely addition to their home.  I am sure that many summer evenings will be spent on it just enjoying the beautiful view of the mountains or cooking supper on the grill.  Sid has also been busy adding decorative rock to the garden beds.  They have a huge yard and this will take some time.  It is good to see this family working together.

Two Crazy but Happy People

What are two people like that are in their seventies. Reckless, crazy but happy. We could not find an alarm clock to set for Brad to wake up and go change the water. My phone was dead so afraid we would not hear it where we charge the phones. So------I stayed awake to be the alarm. Brad woke up at about one forty five and told me to go to bed. He left and I crawled into the bed but., no sleep. I layed there and worried that he might have trouble. One hour later he was still not back. Jumping ditches and starting the tubes is just getting harder for him. I climbed out of bed and looked for his light out the back windows. There it was a faint beacon in the dark night. Ihad some washing to do so I started it knowing I would not sleep till he came in. At three thirty he came in, wet to his knees. His boots sprung a leak. Now I know that these two old people should have headed strzight to bed. Nope, not us. He asked if I would like to go for a ride. Sure why not it is onlt three thirty in the morning. He headed west on our street to show me what he thought was the Brigham City Temple. He had seen the light while irrigating. However, we neither one were sure so, crazy as we are we hezded to the freeway to check it out. Me in my nightgown and he in wet cloths. Plus our phones were home. Oh, I am glad nothing happened. The lights were the Brigham Tabernacle. We took the Co orinne exit and would come bome on the Iowa String. Funny how nice and peaceful the night is. I love my crazy traveling companion and our sweet rides together, no matter the time. We crawled into bed at four thirty and arose this morning at seven. Water to take care of, a house to clean for company and a water meter to help install for the town. No late night rides tonight. Just a peaceful and early bedtime.

Minnesota Up Dates

Nichole met with the Bishop of her Ward on Sunday and was given a church calling which she accepted.
She will be serving as the Achievement Day Leader.  She tells me that there are three young girls that she will meet with at the Church House every other Wednesday.  Someway, the Lord seems to always manage to get some girl power in Nichole's life.  She will be wonderful with these young girls.  She is full of fun, laughter and  enthusiasm.

Tristin has also been given a new nickname by his father.  He is the BMMOC ------ or in other the words, the girls of the two wards that attend Seminary are swooning over him.   So he is the BIG MORMON MAN ON CAMPUS.  The young people have a Mormon table that they sit at to eat breakfast and lunch and all the girls want to be with Tristin.  Can't blame them --- he is a good lookin Harry Potter.

Hunter and Clayton are riding the bus for the first time in their lives.  Clayton was excited from day one but Hunter is not so thrilled.  Hunter's school is the fartherest away so this will help greatly with the gas money.  Tristin is the first to leave because he has seminary at 6.  Then Hunter and the last to leave is Clayton at nine.  It is reported that they are doing okay.

Skylar came to visit Brad and I (I guess yesterday since it is now after midnight).  We so enjoy having him come.  He was to meet with the Bishop this evening about being ordained to the office of an Elder in the Melchizedek Priesthood.  We talked some about where he would like to serve his mission and of course it is still France or at least a French speaking mission.  Only the Lord will have the final answer to that question.  He seems to be keeping very busy and was proud to report that he can do his own laundry now without having to call his mom.  It also sounds like Grandpa and Grandma Isaacson are taking him out to eat alot.  I think he is getting spoiled real good.  He did say that he sure is tired of the tomatoes at the garden and picking them and picking them.  I am glad that he is willing to help out.
We always have to have a talk about the NBA, which mostly is talk about Dallas and his favorite player Dirk N.

We are looking forward to he family coming to Utah the first part of October.

A Nice Thank You

Brad and I received a nice e-mail from the lady at the home where Tonya took our family service project.
I am so grateful for Tonya and all of her efforts to prepare and lead us in this special project.  As a family we are truly blessed with so very much.  Yes, we each have our challenges but over all our lives are so very good.
When you know that other families are not doing so well it can be very humbling.
Tonya has posted pictures on her blog of the projects and items that were donated.  Take a good look at them and be proud of whatever effort you put forth whether in the way of money, time, supplies, or work.  You are appreciated and very much loved.  I know that our Father in Heaven and our Savior is very aware of things that we do to help others.  Keep up the good work.

Just one of the may projects ----- the little boys will love these pillow cases

OK ---- I asked for It

For several years I have been trying to get a zucchini plant to grow.  This was the year.  I planted two ------ oops not such a wise idea.  I have zucchini growing and growing.  It is so hard to not use it, so,   I have grated and frozen it, I have made zucchini bread, zucchini brownies, and sauted zucchini.  Today ---- 7 loaves of Aunt Betty's recipe, 8 loaves of Paul's recipe and a pan of brownies.  We have delivered some as a thank you for the friends that substituted for us at the temple so we could be at the family party.  Also a loaf for Mary Louise.  I truly appreciate the sweet note she sent to me about my talk in church.  I do wish that she could feel that she was a worthwhile person.  She has so many sweet and lovely qualities but she just can't seem to share them easily.  My prayers are with her.
Tired tonight but it will not be a real great night of rest.   Brad is watering the field behind the house and will be getting up at about two to change it.
Tomorrow Larry and Bonnie will be coming down to purchase some peaches and pears.  Hopefully I can help them with this.
My bum leg is hurting like heck ---- but I do have several days to let it rest ---(I hope).  We will not be working at the temple again until the 8th of October because of the Women's Conference and General Conference.
Brad and I will be heading to Park City the evening of General Conference for his Mosquito meetings.  He enjoys serving on this board and the knowledge that he gains and he respects the Box Elder Manager very much.  Me,  I enjoy the quiet time in a lovely hotel room to read and rest.  Glad I have my Nook ----- I can carry one little item instead of many.  Just downloaded an app that contains so many wonderful LDS materials and helps.  It will be great.

Sorias

This  cute family of four  will be a family of five the middle of February.  Sid says that so far they have selected a name for a little girl ----- Elizabeth Jane Soria.  A name for a little boy has not yet been decided on.  Sid and Natalie have decided that they will not ask what the sex of this little baby will be.  They will find out the day that the baby is delivered.

Today, Natalie had  another ultra sound. ----- When I called to ask her how it went and ask her if they really did not ask what it would be, she confirmed again that they did not ask.  I hope the rest of us can hang in there and keep our curiosity at bay.

The Puppies Have Arrived

The Johnson house has three new occupants.  Lexie had her puppies this past week.  Three little girls.  She is very protective of them.  When we visited she was trying to hide them in Heidi's bedroom closet.  Would get very nervous when all three were not right by her.  Hope all goes well.

He Is Away

Even though he is far away he is always in our hearts. Today is Jeff I's birthday. We miss him and how he always encouraged me to LIGHTEN UP! A very happy day and many many more.
Jeff had been working 6 --- 12 hour days for the past couple of weeks.  I am not too sure that he could settle long enough to enjoy any birthday time.  He, Nichole and the boys had a nice dinner together at Olive Garden.  On his official Birthday Day he and Nichole were able to spend a little bit of one on one time together and enjoy a dinner out before he headed to work.
Jeff is working very hard to be sure that his family is well cared for.  Nichole is a wonderful support to him and the boys are just being boys.
They seem so far away ------- just can't stop over to say Hi.

Gracie Jo Nielsen

Today little Gracie was blessed and given her name. She looked just like an angel. But, all these little special little ones are angels.

She was blessed by her grandfather Jeffrey Dale Firth. The circle was made up of so many who love her dearly. They are her grandfather Nielsen, great grandfathers Brad Frank and Harry Gephart. Great Uncles Dan Nesbit, Paul Wood, Sid Soria, Robins husband, Kevins uncle, Kevins brother, Dusty Danisie and Garen Brewer. She was given a beautiful blessing asking the Lord to bless her with good health and a mind that will be very intelligent. She was blessed that God's spiritual blessings will be hers, --- baptism, prayer, scripture study, baptism, an eternal companion, that she will surround herself with good friends and make right choices. Our prayers will always be with Gracie that her life will be filled with these blessings as she continues to grow. Our prayer is with her sweet and good parents that their home will be filled with  all the choice blessing of our Father in Heaven.

A lovely dinner was held a Hansen Park after church.

Always good food ---- just need to convince Heather

Not sure what was in the tires ----- was it the frog

Just Kiss the frog ----- sometimes brothers are so annoying

Jeff Firth goes to Wisconson

Grandpa Jeff blessed his granddaughter Gracie Jo Nielsen today and had to leave as soon as he was done to catch a two o clock flight. He will spend the week there for the company he works for. Proctor and Gamble. Lisa we certainly have a different week being at home alone. I do not think see has done that ever.

Utah State Fair

The Soria family had a fun time at the fair on Saturday. Heather said they rode the Merry Go Round. The saw the animals and her mom showed them the kind that grandpa used to have. Not to impressed with the animals. Heather loved having her face painted.

The smell of CORN

It was corn day for Brad, Skylar and I today. We did 14 batches today. We kind of smell like corn at our house. The Isaacson family will take some back when they come for the big hunt. We will be sharing some also. A very good day but we are tired. Clean up is about done.

Happy Birthday to Dusty

It is number 23 for dusty.  Kelsey did a great job of making Dusty's birthday special.  This cute couple is truly working together so great to become an eternal family.

Happy Birthday to Paul

It is number 48 for Paul.  Mandy made her dad a delicous German Chocolate Cake for his birthday.  However, no candles ---- Paul said he did not want his house to burn down.  It was good to share cake and ice cream with the Wood's family.  Tyler especially liked my ice cream.  He is one of the best eaters around.  That is so great.

Prayers for my Brother and Nephew

Was told today that Greg has been in the hospital for several days.  And to top it all off Harlen had a malfuntioning washer flood part of his home.  Greg is one of those very special children of God that melts your heart and brings a smile to your face.  I can still see this special little boy when he would come to our home when the milk cows were in the pasture.  He would just sit and watch them with this cute smile on his face.  Greg has this twinkle in his eyes that I love to see.  Our prayers are with him and his father and his family.  Love

The Despain Weekend

Now we all know of the busy work that teachers give students that requires a great deal of parental help.  Danny and Amy had such a project this past weekend.  Jacob's teacher has been reading them the book about the Giant Peach and then wanted each student to bring a  dimensional picture box of a part of the story.  Mom was not feeling too much better and had to be to work some of the weekend and dad is great support but not too crafty.  After some frustration they did get a finished project for Jacob to take to school today.  Good job.
In Process

That is some peach

The Healing Field

On Saturday Todd, Mary and Damon went to Sandy to the Healing Field.  As Mary was telling me about the day her emotions were very close to the surface.  She said that it was amazing plus very humbling.  They were reading the tag on one of the flags for a soldier that has been killed in the wars since 9/11.  There was a lady standing behind them by the next flag.  She asked Todd if that was some of their family.  Todd said no and then she told them that she was standing by her son's flag.  She said that he was her HERO.  Todd told her that he was their HERO also and how grateful they are for what they have given for us to have the freedom that we do.   Mary said that this was one of the best experiences that she has ever had and that if we can we should go down to it.  I hope that we will be able to do this next year.

Our Little Miss Mary Poppins

Heather had a date with Mom and Dad to attend the play Mary Poppins.  She asked her mother if she could please wear her Mary Poppins costume from last Halloween.  Natalie told me that everyone thought she looked sooooo cute.  She said that they all enjoyed the show but that "The Lion King" is still their favorite.  This brings back so many good memories of when I was able to attend so many Ballets and Plays with Natalie.  They were good days.  I hope they will always do these fun things together.
Sam ------ well he had Skylar all to his self for the afternoon and he could not have been happier.  When I asked Skylar how his afternoon was with Sam he said "AWESOME",  They played and played.

Glad this Weekend is Over

Brad and I have been on a RUNNING schedule this past week and I am so glad that it is now past.  On Tuesday a Counselor in our Bishopric called Brad and asked if he could come and visit with him.  He asked if we would speak in Sacrament Meeting this past Sunday.  I had taken one of my little blue pills the night before to get some sleep so I was still lying in bed.  (love that I can go to sleep with the little blue pill but hate the feeling the next morning ----- do not take them very often----just when way tired.)  The family party had been so great but we were tired and were looking forward to a slow week.  I quess that was just not in the plans.  Brad came in and told me what Brother Iverson wanted and knowing that we should be supportive of our Ward Leaders we said yes.  It if amazing how that is all that you can think of night and day plus having all of the temple words in our minds.  We both spent a very thinking week as well as a week of hard work.  Brad disk the field behind the house twice in order to get it ready for the new crop.  We mowed the places here at home and Brad did the cemetery and park.  Each evening two tired folks crawled into bed.  I am so grateful we can keep going.  The temple on Saturday went very well and I hope that some of the thoughts that we presented in our talks were of worth to the congregation.  I am so very grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Rodeo in the Yard

Today when Brad came home from working at the cemetery, Homer was by Paul's little blue pickup barking and barking.  We have had a squirrel that is carrying things off here at the house and being a general pest.  We have not even dared to leave the garage door open to cool it off.  After seeing the damage at Harlen's summer home caused by a squirrel we have been very cautious.
Brad just knew that that squirrel was up in Paul's truck.  So he gave Paul a call.  He was on his way home so Brad stayed with Homer until his arrival.  Paul started his truck and out ran the squirrel and headed under the Brewer's car and up to the engine.  So they started that car and out he ran under the Wood's car and up to the engine.  Poor Homer was running her little heart out but the squirrel got away even with Grandpa trying to slow it down.  You have seen at a rodeo where the two cowboys flank the calf as it runs out of the chute.  That is kind of what our rodeo looked like.  Paul and Brad trying to corner the squirrel so Homer and his sidekick Roscoe could get it.  Meagan, Tyler, and Garrett were on the Woods back patio and at one time the squirrel was running right up to them but turned back to meet Homer and Roscoe.  Meagan jumped up and moved the squirrel headed across the patio and around the corner of the house ----- oops bad maneuver he is now trapped with the fence, Brad and the pups.  I know hate to say it but the squirrel will not be a pest at our homes anymore and Homer and Roscoe will need rest and treats tonight.
That darn squirrel tried to hide in all three vehicles

Homer --- ready to run

Cowboy Brad ----- can still run

Cornered and caught

Heather Lyn Soria

During our family party Heather spent the two nights sleeping at Grandma and Grandpa's house.  She had many plans, which usually involved watching a movie of her selection.  However, after a long day of running and playing she did not see too much of any movie.  By the time her bath was complete and Grandpa and Grandma had had their showers her little eyes were ready to close for sleep.  We make her a bed to side of our bed on Grandma's side.  This is so she can hold my hand until she falls asleep.  Sure a tender sweet little hand.  I love it.  In the morning when she awakes I was in my chair so we were able to have a few cuddle minutes.
Monday morning she asked me why did I have so many pictures of Jesus in my house.  I told her that I loved Jesus very much and they helped remind me to try and be more like Him.  She then told me that she loved Him too, but that not everyone knows about Jesus.  I said I knew this and we would just have too try and be like Him so that others could see that He was good.  I told her that Jesus was Heavenly Father's son.  But, then she gave me a question I had never thought about.  Then who is Heavenly Father's father?  How do you answer this question?  She is one deep little thinker.  We love having her stay over and look forward to when Samuel will be able to be comfortable with staying over too.

I received this cute picture from Natalie today.  Heather is ready for school.  She attends Challenger Pre-School.
She also began her Ballet classes again this week.  Good luck Heather Lyn, I know you can do it.

Tenth Wedding Anniversary for the Despains

Today Danny and Amy celebrated anniversary number ten.  Were going to spend it just relaxing at home.  Ten years ago it was a very cool evening for the open house in our backyard but, it was still a very lovely evening.  Our best to them and many more wonderful years together.

Skylar's Big Fish

Received this picture from Skylar today.  He went fishing with Grandpa Isaacson to Bear Lake.  This is the results ---- weighed in at 11 pounds 4 ounces.  Good eating and good fun.

What Is Failure?

We fail only when we give up. I will not give up.

NO SLEEP

So much running through my head. I have now cleaned the refrigerator, mopped the kitchen floor and done laundry but, I still do not know how to start a talk for Sunday. Oh my, I hope something will come. Lots of prayers going Heaven bound.

Tonight I also am thinking greatly about the family that is so special to me. Know this dear family, we can not solve all of our daily challenges without our Father in Heaven. We need to make Him a part of US. Only when we listen to His promptings will we feel peace.

School for the Isaacson boys

Today begins school for Tristin, Hunter and Clayton in Minnesota. Tristin is the first to leave.  He did not have Seminary today but will begin with it tomorrow.  He will have to be ready by 5:30 and seminary will start at 6:00 at the church house. There is a group of three parents that will pick them up and take them to the Anoka High School.  They will arrive in time to have some breakfast before classes begin.  The high school has about 2700 students in the four upper grades.  Nichole says that they think there are about twenty Mormon students.  Tristin begins his day with honors Geometry.  No lunch for him today ---- he said there were students every where ------ tomorrow he will have to just dive right in there like I am sure the others are.  All things will become easier and more familiar with time.

Hunter is the next one to leave and will be attending the Anoka Middle School for the Arts on the Fred Moore campus.  It is a four level school but they have now worked out his schedule to just two levels with only four minutes between classes.  Had a bit of trouble opening his locker at back to school night ----- seven tries.  Hope it goes better today.

Clayton is the last to go.  He is attending fourth grade at the Ramsey Elementary School.  The most exciting part is that he gets to ride the school bus.  It stops within walking distance of their home. (only two townhouses over)
Clayton is MR. SOCIAL so I think that he will make many new friends.  His school is the closest to the Isaacson home.

Reports are that they had an OK Day.  Will see what tomorrow brings.
Waiting for the school bus this morning

Tristin at the end of his school day ---- I am not to sure if his face radiates to much joy ----- Tristin in an excellent student and should do great

Chicken Nuggets for lunch were not Hunters favorite, so after school treats were needed ---- or just maybe a Mt. Dew pick me up.
