We were invited to spend a wonderful Sunday afternoon with Damon and his family. Damon was ordained to the office of a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood by his father at the Belmont Ward Church House. Todd did a great job and gave Damon a wonderful blessing encouraging him to continue to honor his priesthood and to serve in this calling with dedication and love. Having the blessing of the priesthood in our lives is the greatest gift that our Father-in-Heaven has given us to help with life's journey here on earth. I think of the many many times in my life when the brethren who hold this power have called upon our Father-in-Heaven to help me and my family and my home. I pray that each of you are actively using that wonderful blessing in your homes at this time.
It was nice to see Damon and his fellow priesthood hold serve their ward and our country by lowering the flag after church services were over. What a great thing for these young men to do each Sunday as they raise and lower the flag that represents the freedom and democracy of our great nation. I think that this would be a wonderful tradition at all of our chapels.
Thanks Damon for including us in your day. We love you ----- you are a fine young man and we are proud of the life that you are living. It will not always be easy and it will not always be exactly the way you want it but if you continue to live your life according to the example of our Savior Jesus Christ it will be good and you will be happy and at peace.
